WHY THIS TOUR?

If you are looking for a short adventure that combines waterfalls, light trekking, camping, and local culture, this journey is an excellent choice. Set around Ban Ba Waterfall in Chiem Hoa, Tuyen Quang, the trip combines active outdoor experiences with a slower village atmosphere. Travelers get to hike through forested waterfall terrain, swim in natural pools, camp by the falls, and explore the surrounding Tay community by bicycle the next day. What makes this tour especially appealing is the balance between nature and culture: the waterfall landscape feels wild and refreshing, while the village setting adds warmth, local food, and a more personal connection to the region. Ban Ba is officially promoted as a national scenic site and as part of Tuyen Quang’s eco-tourism landscape.

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. Trekking Notes

  • Distance: The trekking route is approximately 3 km per day.
  • Terrain: We will hike up to the waterfall along a rocky trail with a gentle gradient. However, the closer we get to the waterfall, the more slippery the path becomes. The route does not require a high level of endurance or physical fitness, allowing us to walk at a relaxed pace while enjoying the cool, wild natural scenery along the way.
  • Suitability: This route is ideal for most fitness levels, including beginners. Familes are welcome, children aged 6 to 10 can participate with full peace of mind.
  • The trekking route is approximately 6 km long, from Waterfall 01 to Waterfall 03. This is a relatively easy and refreshing trek, especially in summer, as most of the journey involves wading through streams to reach Waterfall 03.
  • During the rainy season, the water flow from the waterfalls becomes significantly stronger; therefore, participants are required to wear helmets and use safety ropes when crossing areas with fast-moving currents.

2. Camping.

  • The campsite for this program is located at the base of Waterfall 2 or Waterfall 1. Bathroom and toilet facilities are available on-site.
  • VAH will provide tents, sleeping mats, and sleeping bags for all participants.

3. Responsible Travel & Environmental Protection

  • Leave No Trace: We strictly follow and promote the Leave No Trace principles in all our outdoor programs. We encourage our guests and partners to apply these ethics to minimize our impact on the natural environment. [See details about Leave No Trace here]
  • Reduce Plastic Waste: To limit single-use plastics, we encourage everyone to bring a reusable water bottle (minimum 1L capacity). Refill stations will be provided throughout the trip.
  • Local Regulations: We kindly ask all guests to comply with the specific environmental regulations and instructions provided by our guides at the destination.

4. Health & Safety

  • Medical Considerations: Your safety is our priority. If you have a history of cardiovascular conditions or chronic joint issues (knees, ankles, shoulders, etc.), please consult with your doctor before booking this trip.
  • Physical Fitness: Engage in running or kayaking/SUP training 1–2 weeks in advance. Each week, run two sessions of 3–5 km per session. Alternatively, practice SUP or kayaking 2–3 times per week, with each session covering approximately 5 km.
  • Transparency: Please inform our tour guide of any existing health conditions or allergies at the start of the journey so we can support you best.
