ITINERARY
Day 1: Sapa – Tam Duong – Ta Leng – Mountain Hut (2600m)

07:00 Meet your guide at your hotel in Sapa. After a short briefing and final equipment check, depart by vehicle for Ta Leng Commune in Lai Chau Province. The journey follows the spectacular O Quy Ho Pass, one of the most scenic mountain roads in Northern Vietnam, offering stunning views of the Hoang Lien Son Range.

09:00 Arrive in Ta Leng and meet the local Hmong porter team who will accompany the trek.

11:00 After a short motorbike transfer deeper into the mountains, reach the edge of the forest. Take a short break before beginning the main trekking route into the heart of Ta Lien Son Nature Reserve.

12:00 Enjoy a picnic lunch along the trail. After lunch, continue trekking through one of Northern Vietnam’s most beautiful old-growth forests. The trail passes beneath giant moss-covered trees, dense ferns, and pristine mountain vegetation, creating the magical atmosphere for which Ta Lien Son is famous.

17:30 Arrive at the mountain hut at approximately 2600 metres above sea level. Take time to rest, freshen up, and enjoy the peaceful forest surroundings as the sun sets over the mountains.

18:30 Enjoy a hearty dinner prepared by the porter team and spend the night at the mountain hut.

Day 2: Mountain Hut – Summit (2996 m) – Sapa

05:00 Wake up and enjoy an early breakfast prepared by the porter team. Take in the peaceful atmosphere of the forest as the mountains begin to emerge from the morning mist.

05:30 Begin the final ascent to Ta Lien Son Peak (2,996 m).

The trail climbs through ancient moss forests, giant rhododendron trees, and dense mountain vegetation before reaching the summit ridge. This upper section is one of the highlights of the trek, renowned for its magical forest scenery and expansive views across the mountains of Lai Chau Province.

08:30 Reach the summit of Ta Lien Son. Celebrate your achievement, take photos, and enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding highlands and the Hoang Lien Son Range.

After spending time on the summit, begin the descent back to the mountain hut.

11:30 Return to the hut for lunch and a short rest before packing up.

12:30 Continue descending along the same route through the moss forest toward Ta Leng.

16:00 Arrive back in Ta Leng and meet your vehicle for the transfer to Sapa.

18:00 Arrive back in Sapa. Your guide and driver will drop you off at your hotel, marking the end of your Pu Ta Leng adventure. End of the tour.

1. Trekking Notes

  • Terrain: the terrain is highly diverse—transitioning from shaded forest tracks and steady mountain slope pathways on the first day to steeper, moss-covered inclines and dwarf bamboo slopes nearing the summit. While it includes challenging uphill sections, the trail features well-maintained footpaths and steps, eliminating technical climbing risks.
  • Suitability:This trek is perfect for active travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, and beginners looking for their first high-altitude mountain conquest. No prior mountaineering experience is required; a basic level of physical fitness and stamina is sufficient to enjoy the journey.

2. Overnight on the mountain

  • You will spend 1 nights in mountain shelter. This is a rustic, communal wooden lodge equipped with basic restroom facilities and showers. To ensure a comfortable night's rest in the chilly mountain air, you will be provided with insulated mats or air mattresses, along with cozy blankets or sleeping bags.

3. Food & Water

  • Meals: Dinner will be freshly prepared on-site by our talented porter team. Breakfast features hot options like fried rice, instant noodles, or crepes. Lunch along the trail typically consists of pre-packed, energizing cold meals.
  • Water: Safe, boiled spring water is provided daily by our team at the campsite. Please bring a reusable water bottle or hydration bladder to refill before setting off each day.
  • Hot beverages: Complimentary hot tea and coffee will be available at the shelter during breakfast and dinner.

4. Responsible Travel & Environmental Protection

  • Leave No Trace: We strictly follow and promote the Leave No Trace principles in all our outdoor programs. We encourage our guests and partners to apply these ethics to minimize our impact on the natural environment.
  • Reduce Plastic Waste: To limit single-use plastics, we encourage everyone to bring a reusable bottle (minimum 1L capacity). You can refill it throughout the day from our large water jugs.
