ITINERARY
Day 1: Hanoi - Bac Yen - Xim Vang Village

13:00 Meet your guide at your hotel in Hanoi and depart for Xim Vang Village, Bac Yen District, Son La Province. Enjoy the scenic drive through the mountains of northwestern Vietnam, with a short refreshment break along the way.

18:00 Arrive at your homestay in Xim Vang Village. Check in and spend the evening relaxing while preparing for the trek ahead.

Day 2: Xim Vang Village - Mountain Shelter

07:00 Wake up and enjoy breakfast at the homestay. Take some time to prepare your personal belongings and pack everything needed for the trek.

07:45 Your guide will provide a safety briefing and conduct a final equipment check before departure.

08:30 Transfer to the trailhead and begin trekking toward tonight's mountain shelter. The trail gradually ascends through farmland and secondary forest before entering the pristine cloud forest of the Ta Xua Nature Reserve. As you gain elevation, the landscape transforms into a magical world of towering ancient trees, giant ferns, and thick carpets of emerald moss—one of the most spectacular forest ecosystems in northwestern Vietnam.

12:00 Enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the forest, freshly prepared by your porter team.

16:00 Arrive at the mountain shelter. Settle into your accommodation, freshen up, and enjoy some free time to relax and take in the peaceful surroundings.

18:00 Dinner at the mountain shelter. After dinner, unwind around the campfire with a cup of warm herbal tea and soak in the tranquil atmosphere of the mountains before an early night's rest.

Day 3: Mountain Shelter - Samu Peak - Xim Vang Village - Hanoi

05:30 Wake up early and enjoy a light breakfast or a hot drink at the mountain shelter before the final ascent.

06:30 Begin the climb to Samu Peak (2,756 m). The trail passes through enchanting moss forests and ancient woodlands before emerging at the summit.

08:00 Reach the summit. Take time to rest, capture memorable photos, and admire the spectacular panoramic views across the mountains of northwestern Vietnam. On clear days, a breathtaking sea of clouds often stretches across the surrounding valleys.

09:00 Begin the descent, retracing your route through the pristine old-growth forest. Along the way, you'll once again pass the towering moss-covered trees and magical cloud forest that make this trek one of the most atmospheric in Vietnam.

12:30 Enjoy a picnic lunch on the trail.

14:00 Return to the homestay in Xim Vang village. Freshen up with a shower and take a short rest after completing the trek.

16:00 Depart for Hanoi. Along the way, stop at a local restaurant for dinner before continuing the journey back to Hanoi.

22:00 Arrive in Hanoi. End of the tour.

1. Trekking Notes

  • Terrain: the terrain is highly diverse—transitioning from shaded forest tracks and steady mountain slope pathways on the first day to steeper, moss-covered inclines and dwarf bamboo slopes nearing the summit. While it includes challenging uphill sections, the trail features well-maintained footpaths and steps, eliminating technical climbing risks.
  • Suitability:This trek is perfect for active travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, and beginners looking for their first high-altitude mountain conquest. No prior mountaineering experience is required; a basic level of physical fitness and stamina is sufficient to enjoy the journey.

2. Overnight on the mountain

  • We will spend 01 night at a mountain shelter. This is a rustic, communal wooden lodge equipped with basic restroom facilities and showers. To ensure a comfortable night's rest in the chilly mountain air, you will be provided with insulated mats or air mattresses, along with cozy blankets or sleeping bags.

3. Food & Water

  • Meals on mountain: Dinner will be freshly prepared on-site by your porter team. Breakfast features hot options like fried rice or instant noodles, or crepes. Lunch along the trail typically consists of pre-packed, energizing cold meals.
  • Water: Safe, boiled spring water is provided at the mountain shelter. Please bring a reusable water bottle or hydration bladder to refill before setting off each day.
  • Hot beverages: Complimentary hot tea and coffee will be available at the shelter during breakfast.

4. Responsible Travel & Environmental Protection

  • Leave No Trace: We strictly follow and promote the Leave No Trace principles in all our outdoor programs. We encourage our guests and partners to apply these ethics to minimize our impact on the natural environment.
  • Reduce Plastic Waste: To limit single-use plastics, we encourage everyone to bring a reusable bottle (minimum 1L capacity). You can refill it throughout the day from our large water jugs.
  • Local Regulations: We kindly ask all guests to comply with the specific environmental regulations and instructions provided by our guides at the destination.
