ITINERARY
Day 1: Lao Cai – Sapa – Tram Ton – Than Thuoc

07:30 Meet your tour guide at your hotel. Your support vehicle transfers you from Sapa to the starting point near the iconic Silver Waterfall. Upon arrival, gear up and begin with a challenging 3 km climb up to Tram Ton Pass—the highest mountain pass in Indochina. Stop at the summit to capture breathtaking, panoramic views over the majestic Hoang Lien Son mountain range.

09:00 After conquering the pass, reward yourself with an exhilarating 26 km descent toward Binh Lu Junction. Enjoy the dramatic shifts in scenery and temperature as you wind down the mountain slopes.

12:00 Stop at a local spot along the route to rest, recharge, and enjoy a hearty lunch.

13:30 Leave the main highway behind and transition onto a rugged, sometimes rocky backcountry route for about 20 km. This trail guides you deep into the rural landscape, winding through scenic hillsides and local hamlets.

17:00 Arrive at Than Thuoc, a charming, peaceful tea-growing town surrounded by vibrant green hills. Check into a local guesthouse and spend the late afternoon winding down after a rewarding day in the saddle.

18:30 Gather for a hearty dinner featuring fresh local dishes. Afterward, enjoy a peaceful night's rest at the guesthouse, fully recharged for the next day's journey.

Day 2: Than Thuoc – Than Uyen

07:00 Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the guesthouse to fuel up for another great day in the saddle.

08:00 Your support vehicle transfers you up a steep, winding mountain road to the day’s starting point. From there, clip in and enjoy an exhilarating 20 km descent toward Than Uyen. The ride takes you through stunning valleys flanked by old-growth forests, rolling green tea plantations, and lush rice paddies.

12:00 Arrive in the mountain town of Than Uyen and take a well-deserved break to rest and enjoy a fresh, local lunch.

13:30 Head back out for an afternoon of exploration. Leave the main roads behind to tackle scenic single-track trails that wind through nearby ethnic minority villages. You will have the unique opportunity to visit and learn about the rich traditions of the local Lu community, known for their distinct culture.

17:00 Loop back to Than Uyen to check back into your guesthouse. Take the late afternoon to refresh, relax, or take a leisurely stroll through the town.

18:30 Gather for a hearty dinner featuring fresh local dishes. Afterward, enjoy a peaceful night's rest at the guesthouse.

Day 3: Than Uyen – Muong Kim Valley – Van Ban – Lao Cai

07:00 Enjoy your final breakfast at the guesthouse and prep your gear for the last leg of your cycling journey.

08:00 Clip in and begin a spectacular 40 km ride sweeping around the opposite side of the breathtaking Muong Kim Valley. This route offers a fresh perspective of the region's dramatic topography. The trail winds through vibrant landscapes, providing endless opportunities to stop, capture photos of the sweeping mountain vistas, and witness the morning routines of the local hill tribe communities along the way.

12:00 Conclude your cycling journey as you roll into the town of Van Ban, marking the official completion of the riding portion of your adventure. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Van Ban. Take this time to relax, toast to an incredible journey, and enjoy a fresh spread of regional dishes.

13:30 After lunch, pack up the bikes and board the comfortable air-conditioned minivan for a scenic 2-hour transfer back to Lao Cai. Enjoy the passing scenery as you relax after days in the saddle. The tour officially concludes upon arrival at Lao Cai in the late afternoon, leaving you ready for your onward travel connections.

  • The Bikes: You will be provided with a premium Trek Hardtail Mountain Bike. Featuring front suspension and a rugged frame, these bikes are perfectly optimized for tackling the diverse mountain topography, steep passes, and quiet backroads of Northern Vietnam. Safety helmets are mandatory and provided.
  • The Terrain: The route is highly diverse and entirely on wheels—ranging from sweeping asphalt descents and winding mountain passes to quiet, narrow valley lanes. While there are demanding, sustained uphill climbs (such as Heaven’s Gate), the support van is always nearby, eliminating any extreme technical risks.
  • Suitability: This tour is ideal for active travelers, cycling enthusiasts, and spirited beginners looking for an epic road adventure. While no advanced mountain biking skills are required, a solid level of physical fitness, stamina, and comfort with multi-hour rides will ensure you fully enjoy the journey.

2. Hotel Accommodations

  • Overnight Stays: You will spend every night resting comfortably in local hotel rooms (twin/double sharing). After a long day on the saddle, you can look forward to standard modern conveniences, private bathrooms, and hot showers to refresh your muscles before the next stage.

  • Meals: All meals showcase authentic, hearty local cuisine designed to replenish your energy. Breakfasts are served hot at the hotels, lunches are enjoyed at handpicked local restaurants along the cycling route, and dinners feature diverse regional dishes.
  • Water & Energy: Clean, safe drinking water and energy-boosting snacks (such as fresh fruits or local treats) are supplied daily from our support vehicle. 
  • Hot Beverages: Complimentary hot tea or coffee is generally available during breakfasts at the hotels and at our designated lunch stops.

  • Reduce Plastic Waste: To limit single-use plastics, we encourage everyone to bring a reusable bottle (minimum 1L capacity). You can refill it throughout the day from our large water jugs.
